| What do you like to do while working on art?
Do you have the TV or a movie going? Particular Pandora station? Do you prefer being inside in your office, outside on the porch, a table at Starbucks?
What helps keep you focused?

| good topic! as in, maybe the first genuinely good topic in the history of this forum I haven't in a while but I used to listen to the adam and joe XFM/BBC shows, which are not really anywhere online but a 12gb torrent spanning about 10 years exists somewhere. it's the perfect combination of really long episodes, general aimlessness, and being moderately irritating that gets me in the right headspace. (see also: U TALKIN U2 TO ME?) most other podcasts I can't do and find myself just sitting down and listening instead of getting anything done. when I was doing colourist work earlier this year I gained the invaluable skill of crying without having to stop working, so I guess also "crying" (thankfully not an issue anymore but it sure makes you feel like a badass when it's all over) | |

| I almost always watch movies or tv-shows on Portative DVD player. I don't watch it during sketch/cleaning sketch stage, thought, because it's distracting, but when it's time to start to do lineart and colors, i just put DVD into player and start drawing and watching because it's the most "calm" stage when it feels good when you drawing and have that atmosphere that something interesting is happening around you, so you won't get bored and can draw for hours. I guess it's that "background noise" that everybody talking about... Plus it really helps to watch some really bad movies when you are just curious about finding one or two inspirational gems in them...it didn't helped with Robocop reemake thought...:^)

| I always have music on, or like Ty said, mynoise.net. I don't listen to podcasts as often as I should, so I'll open itunes and have a moment of "OH GOD" when I see how far behind I am on everything. I have a terrible habit of leaving Twitter open so I spend more time refreshing the feed than I should. I need to break that habit like I did with Facebook. Staying focused is for sure my biggest issue. It helps to get into a groove with Posemaniacs first. Or reloading this link a bunch of times: http://humanae.tumblr.com/randomIt's easily my new favorite warm up tool. Huge variety of faces on there. I definitely prefer to work at home. I miss my table when I'm away and there aren't any quiet coffee shops that are super close by. I don't mind sketching at the laundry mat though. I've only been caught sketching other people in there a couple of times. (There is totally another local artist that keeps covering up my business cards with her cards on the pin boards. So not nice!) | |

| I am ExciteBike to check out mynoise. I love soft ambient tones, I have a Pandora station but it doesn't have any just "synthesizer buzzing away on a single chord for 14 minutes" kinda shit (yet)
A lot of times I'll put on filmscores, those are great to pump me up. If its something specific I'm working on, like these thumbnails, i'll actually put together a "soundtrack" to get me in that mindset. (this one is a lot of Queens of the Stone Age and Gojira)
When my girlfriend paints she likes to have Alice in Wonderland or Nightmare Before Christmas playing in the bg. I'm a little more unorthodox... at times I've listened to porn. *shrugs*
