I like how expressive you made the wingtip hands in the first one.

Great colors and i love that you colored inside-lines.

Also it reminds me of "classic Dirk" of late 00s - when i found your gallery on DA - you was posting some movie-related art.

Somehow the digital work of the last 2 years have decreased my traditional skills. So I start from scratch again.

Is the Hateful Eight piece traditional or digital? How did working in digital for the past 2 years decrease your traditional skill?

All inks are traditional, textures are scanned. The effects Photoshop.

My brush brand started to suck, still searching for a new brand. While that happened I've switched nearly 100% to digital work and my hand coordination has lost a bit of its fine motoric. I feel and see it, but maybe its just a subjective view.

When will we be getting that Hateful 8 Saturday morning cartoon series, Dirk?

Day #3

Dirk, the courage you display when choosing colours always blows my mind. No one makes solid red look so good.

Except maybe Garvals.

Only you two, though.

I was actually close adding a texture that made the colors more saturated. left it this time. I tend to make the colors as bright as here.

Ty's right. The moment I start to use red a nice toasty hole starts burning through my monitor. You know just when to use it.

Day #4

I am working on the webcomic in the next hours to get my deadline for friday. I think it will be my 'drawing' of the day. Here a little prevew of my process.

Your panels are beautiful, Dirk. And I adore the summery piece. I'm a cold weather person but I wouldn't mind being there.

What do you use for that subtle grain over your pages? I've been hoping to use something similar in Rising Sand but haven't found anything I think works 100%.

I use a scanned texture, put it on a seperate layer and play with the saturation and transparency, till I get the effect. I also make sure, that pure white and black get no txture.

In all seriousness, that whole piece is wonderful and bright. I love the movement in her hair. Clariss cracks me up. That pause before she punches the free candy guy is so great.
